The Department of Aviation and Technical Education at Utah State University is seeking a Flight Instructor / Mentor Pilot / Standardization Officer. Under general direction and guidance, the Certified Flight Instructor provides leadership, instruction, and standardization for flight students in Logan, Utah. The incumbent serves as a Mentor Pilot to both flight instructors and students, promoting professionalism, consistency, and safety across the program. This role includes active participation in standardization efforts, ensuring alignment with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Training Course Outlines (TCO), and USU operational procedures. The position emphasizes continuous improvement, instructional quality, and adherence to standardized teaching practices. This is a full-time, benefited position with an expected workload of approximately 40 hours per week, consisting of: 30 hours per week as a CFI/CFII, including instruction and stage checking 10 hours per week dedicated to teaching, standardization, mentor pilot duties, safety oversight, and/or other assignments as directed by the Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructors In addition, the incumbent will assist with program development, instructor mentorship, and other duties as assigned by leadership. Hours and work weeks may vary depending on requirements, but tracking of all worked hours will be required.
