  • 2–8 years of experience in spacecraft GNC, flight dynamics systems, ground software, or a similar field.
  • Experience with Python software development and testing.
  • Background in orbital dynamics and spacecraft subsystems.
  • Experience with software architecture and designing reusable scientific or engineering software libraries.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Willingness to work full-time in the Greenwood Village, Colorado office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with software development practices including version control, automated testing, debugging, code reviews, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with C++, MATLAB, or other scientific computing languages.
  • Experience with spacecraft mission operations and day-in-the-life analysis.
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools and practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, package management, and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience integrating flight dynamics software into operational ground systems or ground stations.
  • Experience with industry-standard GNC tools such as STK, GMAT, or equivalent.
  • Experience analyzing spacecraft dynamics, control theory, and propulsion performance as they relate to trajectory design and constellation geometry.
  • Experience developing flight dynamics, mission analysis, or ground software for spacecraft.
  • Experience with orbit determination, orbit propagation, trajectory analysis, or mission design.
  • Experience developing high-fidelity spacecraft or mission simulations.
  • Familiarity with numerical methods, estimation techniques, filtering, optimization, or statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Python flight dynamics modeling and simulation tools for internal engineering teams and other York software while maintaining the existing software suite.
  • Contribute to systems engineering and software architecture by defining interfaces, identifying technical requirements, and designing scalable solutions for flight dynamics applications.
  • Translate designs, algorithms, and technical requirements into clean, readable code.
  • Maintain and improve the existing flight dynamics and astrodynamics software suite and introduce new capabilities as mission needs evolve.
  • Develop unit, integration, and validation tests, and create technical documentation for internal users and developers.
  • Validate the accuracy, performance, and robustness of simulation and modeling tools.
  • Perform orbit determination and orbit analysis, including interpreting and assessing results from flight dynamics tools.
  • Support deployment, integration, and operation of orbital dynamics and mission feasibility tools in ground station and mission operations environments.
  • Provide astrodynamics analytical support for mission design, trajectory analysis, spacecraft operations, and feasibility assessments.
  • Collaborate with software, systems engineering, mission operations, and other technical teams to solve multidisciplinary problems.
  • Define, develop, and maintain high-fidelity simulation environments for mission architecture development and day-in-the-life simulations across varied mission profiles.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
