About The Position

Iridium is seeking a Flight Dynamics Analyst for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. This role involves monitoring and controlling ground systems at Operations Centers in Grand Forks, ND or Huntsville, AL. The position requires working 12-hour shifts in a 24-hour, multi-satellite operations environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about engineering and space systems and wants to be part of an advanced satellite constellation project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years directly applicable experience working with satellites or in the space field
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft Office/engineering tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a high-paced operational environment often providing off-hours support
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
  • Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
  • Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
  • Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
  • Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks at once and complete them on time with mostly no errors
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Requires an active/current Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Nice To Haves

  • General understanding of satellite operations, orbit dynamics, and satellite subsystems

Responsibilities

  • Perform near real-time constellation position trending, monitoring, and management
  • Develop and validate all station-keeping maneuvers to maintain tight pointing and crosslink requirements
  • Assist in the execution of all maneuver planning for ascent, collision avoidance, and cross-track maneuvers
  • Support the team by conducting real-time conjunction analysis to assess the risk of collision and execute mitigation efforts as deemed necessary
  • Ensure the quality and timely generation of predictive orbital events to support other domains
  • Take an active role in the development and maintenance of Flight Dynamics procedures
  • Continuously look for ways to improve tools and processes for streamlined operations
