About The Position

The Boeing Company is hiring for a Flight Controls Systems Service Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join their Boeing Commercial Airplane division in Seal Beach, CA. This role involves supporting customers' operations of Boeing Commercial Airplane models, primarily the 737NG/MAX fleets, with opportunities to support all other Boeing and McDonnell-Douglas models. The engineer will collaborate directly with airline customers to resolve issues related to aircraft flight controls systems, including primary and secondary flight control surfaces. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require addressing urgent issues and leading technical airline meetings outside regular working hours, potentially involving non-standard shifts to support 24/7/365 fleet operations. The position also includes approximately 10% domestic or international travel for airline technical troubleshooting, repairs, and review meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical, design and informational support for basic production, product support or in-service issues.
  • Troubleshoots basic system problems consistent with operational protocols.
  • Supports analysis, definition and verification of basic requirements.
  • May modify basic requirements based on defined requirements using approved processes and tools.
  • Supports and/or creates and provides basic technical documentation (e.g. Fleet Team Digest articles, service letters, drawings, specifications, documents, data sets, design folders, test requirements documents, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery.
  • Assists with the study and assessment of technology development by gathering data, supporting testing and documenting findings.
  • Supports review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation, participating in design reviews, and observing tests and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Assists with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.
  • Supports and/or leads the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Assists in designing and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.
  • Works with and possibly directing cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.
  • Assists in the development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assists in solving problems and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
