About The Position

This position is for a Flight Controls Systems Engineer I at RTX, focusing on aerospace and defense. The role involves developing control algorithms and signal processing for flight control systems, including flight guidance, autothrottle, and attitude control systems. The engineer will define and review system requirements, develop models and simulation tools for closed-loop systems, and conduct system verification and validation. A key aspect of the role is supporting product certification through ARP4754A/B compliant system development and DO-178B/C compliant software development. The position offers opportunities to gain practical skills in data analysis, system integration, test development, and verification processes, along with hands-on experience with system engineering artifacts and collaboration with a diverse engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent STEM major obtained by start date.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (lawful permanent resident, protected individual, U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or individual granted refugee or asylee status in the U.S.).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Matlab/Simulink
  • Knowledge of control systems theory
  • General knowledge of aviation and/or flight control systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop control algorithms and signal processing for flight control systems, including flight guidance, autothrottle, and attitude control systems.
  • Define and review system requirements for flight control systems, including functional requirements and interface requirements.
  • Develop models and simulation tools for various types of closed loop systems to assess performance.
  • Conduct system verification and validation of the control algorithms, flight control system functional requirements, and interface requirements.
  • Support product certification at all levels by performing ARP4754A/B compliant system development and DO-178B/C compliant software development.
