About The Position

The Flight Control Shift Supervisor is responsible for maintaining operational control for UPS domestic and international flights. Ensures flights comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company policies and procedures. This position ensures proper personnel and equipment availability, analyzes weather conditions, monitors operational performance, and implements contingency plans. Supervisees dispatchers and administrative assistants within the department.

Requirements

  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate, with ability to complete certification as a Flight Control Aircraft Dispatcher authorized to exercise operational control of UPS flights.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of aviation experience.
  • Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with airline operations and legacy systems; solid fundamental PC proficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze adverse weather impacting flight operations; develop and implement operational plans to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure adequate Flight Control staffing and properly functioning equipment on each shift.
  • Verify all flights are properly assigned and, if qualified, issue EWINS Flight Movement Forecasts in accordance with policy.
  • Investigate, document, and report operational incidents and irregularities as time and circumstances permit.
  • Direct Flight Operations contingency plans during major disruptions, including weather events, natural disasters, labor actions, or civil disturbances.
  • Monitor overall airline operational performance and provide corrective recommendations to the Flight Control Shift Manager.
  • Maintain accurate daily operational briefings and irregularity reports.
  • Communicate known or anticipated operational issues, including ATC delays, weather impacts, or staffing concerns.
  • Perform UPS Aircraft Dispatch ATS duties, if qualified.
  • Maintain adequate shift coverage for Flight Control Aircraft Dispatchers.
  • Review, investigate, communicate, and file all Irregularity and Information Reports for the assigned shift.
  • Administer initial and annual Aircraft Dispatcher competency evaluations, as directed.
  • Conduct assigned annual Flight Control audits and Team Leader Assessments (TLAs).
  • Participate in daily operational meetings.
