About The Position

The Flexible Technician reports to our Assembly Supervisor and is responsible for leading and assisting all production assembly classifications as well as perform assembly work. This role involves ensuring production schedules are met, directing set-up activities, assisting with new product implementation and prototyping, and maintaining quality control. The technician will also manage inventory levels, advise on part shortages, track production records, and ensure the assembly area is maintained. Key performance indicators include Occupational Safety, Production Cycle Time, Operation Efficiency, Finished Goods Quality, Customer On-Time Delivery, and Management line scheduling visibility.

Requirements

  • Must have electronics assembly experience and be able to calibrate meters with the use of PC/software.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge, experience and training in assembly procedures on a product line, or adequate knowledge experience and training in assembly procedures with several product lines.
  • Must show ability to achieve ALL stated Key Performance Indicators.
  • May be required to perform a clerical duty (process RMAs, run MRP).
  • Must display and maintain a positive attitude.
  • An understanding of human relations and company policy is necessary and the leader must be able to gain and hold the respect of the employees they are leading.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to walk back and forward thought-out facility
  • Ability to control operation of hand or foot
  • Ability to lift / carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to turn wrist frequently in repetitive motion

Responsibilities

  • Assign assembler to stations as required to provide scheduled production in accordance with orders received from the planner and responsible for maintaining a minimal "Late List".
  • Direct various set-up activities which include obtaining necessary parts and assembly jigs for each station, instruct assemblers in the methods of assembly and provide hand tools as required.
  • Assist in successful implementation of new or revised products into assembly.
  • Assist in production of engineering prototyping and custom samples for sales.
  • Quality Control of assembled parts to assure conformance with quality requirements; instruct personnel concerning errors or adjustments necessary in the assembly process, information appropriate Engineering if necessary.
  • Advise the planner of inventory records involving minimums and maximums to prevent material shortages; provide daily pick sheets to the Stock Room for material needed to support production.
  • Advise Supervisor of part shortages, aid in expediting part, and prepare lead-time estimates and completion time of various assembly orders to determine labor need and availability and plan reassignment to various stations.
  • Maintain production time, attendance, and other records and charts on line performance.
  • When necessary, request maintenance assistance; operate forklift, keep the assembly area neat and orderly by directing sweeping and cleaning activities, and the return of unused parts to inventory.
