About The Position

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care. This role offers increased flexibility in scheduling, while allowing you to float only at Trinity Health Arbor. Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA or PCT course.
  • Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
  • Minimum of 48 hours per 6-week schedule.
  • Every Other Weekend and 4 Holidays per year (at least 1 Winter) required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
  • Collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures.
  • Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
  • Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and conducive patient care environment.
