About The Position

Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement and fire departments. Security personnel will always perform job duties with a constant awareness of surroundings, making note of all activity that takes place in the assigned area. Security Officers must maintain a professional image and always demonstrate excellent customer service. As a flex officer, the employee will provide a set schedule of days and hours they are available to be on call. During these committed availability periods, the officer is expected to be reachable and prepared to work if coverage is needed. Flex officers may also be offered shifts outside of their committed availability; acceptance of those additional hours is voluntary and based on the officer’s availability. Shifts and hours may vary and can include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Hours are not guaranteed and are based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • Must meet all state and company licensing requirements (including ACTIVE PERC/Guard Card).
  • Strong observation, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain professional, calm, and alert in all situations.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.

  • Previous security, customer service, or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Control of entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
  • Patrol of buildings and perimeters.
  • Escort of material and personnel.
  • Inspection of security and fire exposures.
  • Special assignments.
  • Be on time and report to post in full uniform.
  • Maintain professional image that includes greeting customers, visitors and employees in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Be proactive in knowing all revisions to post orders and general information distributed by the customer and AFS.
  • Patrol physical property or maintain fixed post position, being diligent to report any suspicious activity and investigate accidents and criminal acts.
  • Monitor cameras or equipment in a continuous fashion as outlined in the post orders.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all emergency policies, procedures and regulations to be able to respond to alarms, incidents and emergency situations.
  • Complete Daily Activity Reports, Log Book entries, Incident Reports and all relevant reports related to job assignment.
  • Make recommendations to management on better safety and loss prevention processes as identified during daily routine.
  • Have knowledge of any life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV system computer, and other such equipment to complete job assignments. Ensure continuous and safe operation of all elevators and access doors. Know authorized contractor personnel who are responsible for maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
  • Ensure training and compliance guidelines are met as outlined by AFS and other agencies regulating the customer / market.
  • Communicate on a daily basis with Security Supervisor any new Security Issues or changes that need to be considered or implemented.
  • Provide security coverage for call-offs, increased staffing needs, special events, or operational gaps.
  • Maintain a visible security presence to ensure the safety of guests, tenants, employees, and property.
  • Conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, including interior and exterior locations.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, or policy violations.
  • Respond professionally and appropriately to incidents, alarms, and emergencies.
  • Complete required reports and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, site contacts, and law enforcement when necessary.
  • Follow all company policies, post orders, and client-specific procedures.

  • Officers must provide set days and hours they commit to being available on call.
  • During committed availability times, officers are expected to be reachable and able to report to duty if needed.
  • Officers may be contacted for shifts outside of their committed availability; these shifts may be accepted if the officer is available but are not mandatory.
  • Reliability and adherence to committed availability are essential to the role.
