About The Position

We are looking for a Fleet Technician to join our Administration team and support the management of fleet vehicles and field equipment across the organization. This position will be based out of our Bay City, Flint, or Taylor offices and may require travel to other offices and project locations as needed. The candidate must have a high school diploma and one to five years of experience in asset management, fleet operations, or business support leadership roles. Automotive, fleet management, or related technical training is a plus. The Fleet Technician assists with vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance coordination, asset tracking, fleet reporting, and vendor communication to help ensure vehicles and equipment remain safe, compliant, and operationally ready. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, technically inclined, and able to communicate effectively while managing multiple priorities and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-5 years in asset management, fleet operations, or business support leadership roles.
  • Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of vehicle maintenance and vehicle systems.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data and develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support operational decision-making.
  • Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new technologies and systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to use, or willingness to learn, fleet management, telematics, and asset management software platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive, fleet management, or related technical training is a plus.
  • Completion of Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Transportation, or similar Career and Technical Education (CTE) program preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology, Fleet Management, Business, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience with vehicle tracking software preferred.
  • Familiarity with equipment management practices within construction, engineering, utility, or other field-service environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support functions across Asset Management and Fleet Management programs.
  • Monitor fleet age, utilization, condition, maintenance history, and replacement schedules.
  • Maintain accurate asset records throughout the lifecycle of vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with vehicle specifications, ordering, and coordination with vendors and manufacturers.
  • Track order status, delivery schedules, upfitting requirements, and deployment readiness.
  • Ensure newly acquired vehicles and equipment are properly commissioned and entered into asset management systems.
  • Conduct in-field inspections of fleet vehicles and equipment to assess condition, operational readiness, safety compliance, and maintenance needs.
  • Perform entry-level hands-on diagnostics and troubleshooting for vehicles and equipment.
  • Coordinate vehicle assignments, rental vehicle requests, transfers, and fleet availability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel to other office locations as needed to support operations.
