About The Position

The Town of Marana is seeking a Fleet Technician I to work in the Public Works Department with the Fleet Services Division. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working in a fast-paced environment providing comprehensive care for the Town's fleet vehicles and equipment. Tools, equipment and PPE provided by the Town. The Fleet Technician is responsible for the daily care of vehicles, and the ideal candidate will have experience with a fleet consisting of mixed vehicles makes and models. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 months education or training.
  • Over one year experience in automotive mechanics service and repair or related field.
  • Certified in automotive and truck air conditioning systems or must obtain within 6 months.
  • Recent Tire repair, service and replacement experience.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License.
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical including an audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test.
  • Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of recent continuous employment by a licensed repair facility.
  • Additional ASE Certifications.
  • Tire Industry Association Certification or equivalent.
  • Basic scan tool and tire pressure monitor systems experience.
  • Motorcycle experience a plus.
  • Small engine repair experience a plus.
  • Medium to heavy on road truck repair and maintenance a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections, minor preventive maintenance, and basic repairs of a variety of vehicles and equipment (e.g., oil changes and air filters, tire maintenance, thorough inspection of all engine, transmission, a/c repair and diagnostics, cooling, brakes and suspension components, hydraulic system, and batteries).
  • Performs tire inspections, including repairs, replacement, balancing and usage of scan tools for tire pressure monitoring systems.
  • Under the direction of the Fleet Supervisor troubleshoot/diagnose problems using computer technology and technical documentation to identify planned maintenance and inspection actions.
  • Repairs/replaces broken and worn out parts.
  • Plans, prioritize, and schedules daily activities under the direction of the Fleet Supervisor.
  • Creates work orders, completes inspection forms, and provides customer service to department/employees on maintenance updates.
  • Maintains shop by completing daily janitorial cleaning tasks.
  • Keeps up to date on the latest automotive technologies.
  • Responds to emergency callouts and on-call rotations.
