About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] Position Summary The Fleet Technical Specialist plays a key role in supporting and enhancing FirstEnergy's Fleet Management application (M5), while also contributing to broader fleet operations including budgeting, leasing, and invoicing. This position combines technical expertise with operational insight, involving IT-related tasks such as system configuration, access management, troubleshooting, and user training. Additionally, the role supports strategic initiatives including budget development, variance analysis, data trending, KPI creation, process mapping, industry benchmarking, and other assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience in data modeling, statistical analysis, scenario planning, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to identify complex challenges, recommend impactful solutions, and implement improvements.
  • Ability to develop and implement process improvements and automation strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional IT certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with utility-specific fleet operations (e.g., service truck optimization, emergency response, environmental compliance) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and upgrade the Fleet Management application (M5), including support for emergency updates.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and training materials for M5.
  • Deliver training on M5 processes to new and existing employees.
  • Conduct variance analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze data trends and develop key performance indicators (KPIs) for system and operational performance.
  • Contribute to business process design, ensuring accurate documentation of functional requirements and system integration points.
  • Administer internal fleet-related systems (e.g., SharePoint, web applications) and manage external vendor access for Fleet personnel.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the M5 system.
  • Collaborate with employees to understand needs and enhance system functionality accordingly.
  • Aggregate and validate data from multiple sources including telematics, fuel management systems, fleet tracking tools, and ERP platforms.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency in alignment with utility compliance standards.
  • Monitor system KPIs such as utilization, availability, and outage duration.
  • Provide actionable insights to improve fleet reliability, reduce outages, and enhance customer service.
  • Generate reports to demonstrate compliance and fleet performance for internal and regulatory stakeholders.
