About The Position

As the Fleet Shop Technician, you will ultimately be responsible for diagnosing and repairing construction equipment, maintaining fleet vehicles and trailers, and performing preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and uptime. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems while delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality fleet maintenance services. As the Fleet Shop Technician, your customers are field operations, fleet management, and internal construction teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through technical expertise, quality workmanship, and dependable fleet support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check, pre-employment drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and DOT physical
  • Proven experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, or commercial vehicles
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Experience using diagnostic software and electronic service equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and construction equipment systems
  • Ability to operate welding and fabrication equipment safely
  • Ability to use computerized diagnostic systems for trucks and construction equipment
  • Working knowledge of body repair, fabrication, welding, torching, hydraulics, automotive mechanics, diesel mechanics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, work orders, operating manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair documentation
  • Strong mathematical skills for measurements, fluid capacities, ratios, and related calculations
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work independently
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and policies
  • Proficiency with required computer systems and maintenance documentation
  • Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail

  • Associate degree or trade school certification in Automotive or Diesel Technology
  • ASE Certifications and/or EPA Section 609 Air Conditioning Certification
  • Welding Certifications
  • Qualified BIT/DOT Inspector
  • Brake Certification for air brake systems
  • DOT Medical Card
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • First Aid Certification
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Experience performing BIT/DOT inspections preferred

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair construction equipment, on-highway vehicles, and trailers using mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Troubleshoot and replace hydraulic system components including valves, hoses, fittings, tanks, pumps, and related equipment
  • Diagnose and repair complex electrical wiring systems for utility booms, chassis, engines, and related vehicle systems
  • Interpret electronic service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and parts catalogs to complete repairs
  • Perform fabrication and welding using MIG, ARC, oxy-acetylene equipment, torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools
  • Perform preventative maintenance services and BIT/DOT inspections while completing all required repairs identified during inspections
  • Safely raise trucks, trailers, and construction equipment using hydraulic or air-assisted jacks and hoists
  • Replace worn or defective brake components and perform tire replacement
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle air conditioning systems
  • Follow dealership and manufacturer service guidelines and maintenance procedures
  • Complete repair documentation and service paperwork accurately and on time
  • Respond to field service requests and equipment repair priorities
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
