About The Position

The Fleet Safety Manager – EHS is responsible for overseeing all fleet safety and compliance initiatives for Shermco’s vehicle operations across North America. This role ensures compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, manages Driver Qualification (DQ) files, leads motor vehicle incident investigations, and provides strategic guidance on the use of vehicle telematics and dashcam systems (e.g., Samsara). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fleet management, safety leadership, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing fleet safety programs or EHS compliance in a multi-state or large-scale operation.
  • Demonstrated experience with DOT and FMCSA compliance management.
  • Hands-on experience managing Driver Qualification files and conducting compliance audits.
  • Strong working knowledge of vehicle telematics and dashcam platforms (e.g., Samsara).
  • Proven track record in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) credential.
  • Experience in the electrical, utility, or transportation industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files and ensure all drivers meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Administer and optimize the company’s vehicle telematics and dashcam systems (e.g., Samsara), analyzing data to improve driver behavior and fleet safety performance.
  • Lead and coordinate motor vehicle incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Track, report, and analyze key safety metrics related to fleet operations and vehicle performance.
  • Provide ongoing driver safety training and support continuous improvement initiatives within the EHS department.
  • Partner with operations, HR, and leadership to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and accountability across all levels.
  • Develop and maintain fleet safety policies, procedures, and documentation in accordance with Shermco’s EHS standards.
  • Manage or support other key EHS initiatives in the company.
