About The Position
The KIG Fleet & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing enterprise-wide fleet and safety programs across a portfolio of operating companies. This role serves as a strategic center of excellence, providing governance, standards, risk management, compliance oversight, analytics, and operational support while partnering with local leadership teams that retain day-to-day operational responsibility. The position works closely with operating company Presidents, safety managers, HR leaders, operations leaders, finance teams, insurance brokers, workers' compensation partners, and the Claims Manager to reduce risk, improve driver and employee safety, control fleet costs, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role balances corporate oversight with a service-oriented approach, enabling operating companies to maintain operational flexibility while adhering to enterprise standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Business Management, Operations, or related field or equivalent experience required.
- 5+ years of progressive fleet management, safety management, risk management, or operations leadership experience.
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed organizations, OSHA compliance, workers compensation programs, accident investigations, telematics and fleet software, and reporting tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to influence without authority
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism

Responsibilities
- Develop and administer enterprise fleet policies, standards, and procedures. Supports the lifecycle management of company vehicles, including acquisition, assignment, maintenance, utilization, replacement, and disposal.
- Monitor fleet utilization, operating costs, fuel consumption, maintenance expenditures, and vehicle productivity. Establish vehicle replacement strategies and capital planning processes.
- Partner with operating companies to ensure proper vehicle inspections, preventive maintenance programs, and asset tracking.
- Administer fleet management systems, telematics platforms, fuel card programs, and reporting tools. Negotiate and manage relationships with fleet vendors, leasing companies, maintenance providers, and fuel management partners.
- Standardize fleet reporting and key performance indicators across operating companies.
- Implement fleet safety initiatives focused on reducing vehicle accidents, preventable collisions, citations, and claims; partner with Claims Manager to review claim trends, impacts and metrics.
- Maintain fleet-related compliance records and required documentation.
- Develop and maintain enterprise safety programs while creating a proactive safety culture; support operating companies in implementing safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Manage recurring driver safety training and corrective action programs. Partner with local leadership to investigate vehicle accidents and identify root causes.
- Partners with operating companies to oversee driver qualification standards, MVR review processes, and driver eligibility requirements as needed.
- Develop enterprise safety standards while allowing flexibility for local operational requirements.
- Monitor OSHA and regulatory compliance programs across portfolio companies.
- Partner with Claims manager to oversee incident reporting, investigation, corrective actions, and trend analysis.
- Coordinate safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
- Assist operating companies with hazard prevention and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Collaborate with HR and operations teams on return-to-work and workers' compensation safety initiatives.
- Analyze accident trends, workers' compensation data, vehicle claims, and loss drivers.
- Develop and implement loss prevention programs.
- Support claims management activities and assist operating companies with accident investigations.
- Prepare annual loss reviews and executive reporting.
- Establish enterprise safety and fleet scorecards.
- Develop KPIs and deliver reporting to executive leadership and operating company management teams while identifying trends and provide actionable recommendations.
- Function as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for operating company leaders.
- Provide coaching and support to local safety coordinators and operations leaders.
- Lead enterprise safety councils and fleet governance meetings.
- Develop best practice sharing programs across the portfolio.
- Support acquisitions through due diligence and integration of fleet and safety programs.
- May support other ad hoc projects as needed.
