About The Position

360 Rail Services is seeking a motivated and dependable Fleet Operations Technician to support our field operations, construction, maintenance, and transportation teams. This position is responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles and transporting equipment/materials while also performing mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and general service work on trucks, equipment, and rail-related support machinery. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, organized, and willing to support a fast-paced construction and rail operations environment. This role requires flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and alongside field crews.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class A license preferred.
  • Clean driving record and ability to comply with DOT regulations.
  • Experience operating semi-trucks and hauling equipment/trailers.
  • Mechanical experience with diesel engines, trailers, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals and inspection reports.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Rail industry, construction, or heavy equipment experience.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Familiarity with DOT inspections and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and shop equipment.
  • OSHA 10, MSHA, or other safety certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate CDL-required commercial vehicles including semi-trucks, flatbeds, lowboys, and service trucks.
  • Transport rail materials, equipment, tools, and machinery to project sites throughout the region.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Secure loads properly and ensure safe transport of all materials and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and fuel records.
  • Assist with fleet scheduling, equipment movement coordination, and delivery logistics.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and support vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, brake repairs, hydraulic repairs, lighting, tire service, and general inspections.
  • Troubleshoot diesel engines, trailers, electrical systems, and small equipment.
  • Maintain service records and communicate repair needs to management.
  • Assist with maintaining shop cleanliness, inventory, tools, and parts organization.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for parts procurement when required.
  • Support construction and maintenance crews as needed during mobilizations and field operations.
  • Assist with loading/unloading materials and equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, skid steers, telehandlers, or other support equipment as qualified.
  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and operational planning.
  • Respond to emergency repairs or field service calls when necessary.
