About The Position

The Fleet Operations Manager will be responsible for managing driver managers, setting and communicating KPI goals, and coaching them on driving policies and soft skills. This role involves gathering data for executive management, establishing operational policies, and tracking time off, advances, and coverage. The manager will also collaborate with various departments, including Sales, Orientation, and Recruiting, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication. This position plays a key role in resolving driver issues, developing new accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and DOT requirements.

  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring direct reports preferred
  • Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Minimum of 4 years transportation industry experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching, mentoring, measuring, and disciplining Driver Managers.
  • Assist in resolving driver issues.
  • Collaborate with Director and VP’s to create capacity in overbooked situations.
  • Work with Sales Department in developing new accounts.
  • Direct workflow among Driver Managers.
  • Administrative duties associated with Driver management staff.
  • Monitor compliance regarding policies and procedures within fleets.
  • Communicate issues with Director and VP’s of Operations promptly.
  • Network with other departments to ensure quick resolutions to issues that span departments.
  • Work with orientation and recruiting to ensure our incoming drivers are correctly informed of policies and procedures.
  • Participate in customer and driver conference calls.
  • Create and upkeep policies and training materials.
  • Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of Covenant Transport Services.
