About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all vehicles and equipment within the fleet. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, managing parts inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, and handling billing and payment processing. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of automotive systems, including diesel and small engines, and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and meeting safety standards.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
2-5 years automotive experience
Virginia State Inspection License
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or certification in automotive technology

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and replacement of worn parts.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and electrical systems for both diesel and small engines.
Ensure all vehicles meet local, state, and federal regulations for safety and maintenance, including conducting Virginia state inspections.
Accurately log all maintenance and repair activities, and maintain inventory records of parts and supplies.
Oversee parts and tools inventory, monitor stock levels, and reorder supplies as necessary.
Create detailed invoices for work performed, process payments, and maintain organized transaction records.
Compile and present reports on the fleet’s maintenance status and any issues.
