About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic II performs scheduled preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on automobiles, light- and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, vans, and forklifts. The role includes disassembling and overhauling motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, and electrical systems; completing required documentation, including vehicle records; and managing parts ordering and inventory. The Fleet Mechanic II also mentors Class I mechanics. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., or until the work is finished. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed is required. The position is based in Northlake, Illinois, and offers starting pay of $37.51 per hour. Benefits are subject to eligibility and collective bargaining agreements.

Requirements

At least 2 years of mechanic experience on a fleet.
Ability to work on all types of vehicles.
Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to supply a personal set of tools to perform the job.
Willingness and ability to acquire required certifications and licenses within the first year of employment, including ASE Heavy and Medium Duty certification, DOT Commercial Driver’s License (CDL A), DOT brake and annual inspection certification, and A/C certification.
Self-motivation, strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, technical aptitude, and willingness to continue learning.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
