About The Position

Ensures all trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are in working order and compliant with federal standards. This role involves performing inspections, repairs, and diagnoses on various vehicle systems, including diesel engines, power trains, electrical systems, HVAC, steering, electronics, engine bolt-ons, brake systems, suspension systems, and after-treatment devices. The Fleet Mechanic II will also conduct preventive maintenance, complete repair orders, and address outstanding vehicle issues reported by drivers. The position requires adherence to company policies and safety rules, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and performing DOT inspections.

Requirements

• 2+ years of Diesel Maintenance Repair experience
• Experienced using trailer maintenance software preferred
• Experience working with air brake, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills
• Broad understanding of fleet maintenance policies, FMCSA standards and industry practices.
• Ability to work unsupervised, make decisions as needed
• Effective communicator and team player

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate gaining proficiency in the inspection, repair and diagnosis of diesel engines, power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, wheel ends.
• Perform electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance and complete vehicle diagnosis.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on tractor and trailer equipment including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders.
• Perform maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, lift-gates, and any company-owned equipment.
• Abide by all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
• Maintains repairs for Class A trucks, trailers and yard tractors.
• Safely operates gauges, forklifts, shunt truck, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools.
• Performs DOT inspections and compliancy.
