About The Position

The Fleet Mechanic I ensures trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are in working order and comply with federal standards. The role diagnoses and repairs vehicle components, performs preventive maintenance and other repairs, supports drivers with vehicle issues, and conducts Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections and compliance activities. The mechanic safely operates maintenance equipment and tools and helps maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Requirements

• Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions as needed.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
• Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills.
• Experience working with air brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Nice To Haves

• Prior welding and fabrication experience.
• Tire repair experience, including repair, mounting, and dismounting.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair truck and trailer components, including doors, floors, side panels, electrical systems, and air brake systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment, including routine technical repairs and completion of repair orders.
• Perform maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, liftgates, and company-owned equipment.
• Follow company policies and safety rules and help maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Assist drivers in addressing outstanding vehicle issues.
• Maintain and repair Class A trucks, trailers, and yard tractors.
• Safely operate gauges, forklifts, shunt trucks, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools.
• Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance.
