About The Position

The Mechanic Assistant is responsible for providing services to mechanics as needed, maintaining vehicle maintenance schedules, and coordinating with Fleet Management for parts procurement. This role involves performing various maintenance and repair tasks on TOPC vehicles and assets, assisting with electrical systems, test driving vehicles, maintaining shop cleanliness, and managing inventory.

Requirements

Mechanical background in repair and preventative maintenance on vehicles and large equipment.
Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the automotive trade.
Ability to use power and hand tools.
Ability to follow instructions.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read service and repair manuals.
Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely fashion.
Ability to work well with a team and under pressure in challenging environments.
Must be able to use computer diagnosis system.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
2-year minimum experience.

Nice To Haves

ASE certifications or equivalent.
Welding qualified.

Responsibilities

Performing maintenance repairs such as tune-ups, oil changes, checking tires and brakes, and replacing spark plugs for all TOPC vehicles/assets.
Assisting mechanics with electrical systems, including replacing batteries, starters, and lights.
Test driving vehicles to ensure repairs are completed properly.
Cleaning the shop and organizing tools.
Maintaining inventory for all TOPC vehicles/assets.
Inspecting tools and equipment for proper working order.
Working effectively within a team and under pressure in challenging environments.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
