About The Position

The Fleet Maintenance Technician supports the Fleet Director with oversight and day-to-day management of an effective fleet maintenance program to ensure that vehicles are maintained in an efficient and safety-conscious manner. They aid in planning, scheduling, performing, directing, evaluating the repairs, and servicing of vehicles, and maintaining appropriate records. They help with repairs and preventive maintenance programs that minimize cost and maximize the use of vehicles. They routinely advise, consult, and help crew members, providing guidance on complex maintenance issues as needed. They deal with day-to-day issues and find suitable solutions under difficult circumstances. They must have an excellent command of decision-making and problem-solving techniques and are able to apply them appropriately. They must be able to work at various job locations.   • Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a company vehicle.
  • Successful completion of background, MVR, and drug screening requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ford Technician training and certification required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and at least three (3) years of automotive or diesel repair experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA, and other federal and state regulations

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Fleet Director to keep up the Utili-Serve’s level of commitment to safety and the responsibility of helping maintain the Fleet department including maintenance control, compliance, quality assurance, and warranty administration of vehicles.
  • Recommends and administers policies and procedures.
  • Communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and other operations personnel.
  • Ensures compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal and Company requirements.
  • Ensures a safe environment exists and that all maintenance and related activities are in conformance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews and completes repair orders.
  • May order fuel for vehicles, order parts, and subcontract repair work as needed.
  • Initiates and recommends projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Provides day-to-day direct support for field crew members.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Schedules and completes projects efficiently/effectively.
  • Follows up on questions, concerns, and requests promptly.
  • Always presents a professional image.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by The Fleet Director.
