About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform routine vehicle maintenance on County-owned vehicles and equipment. This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• One year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field
• Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
• Ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the level of equipment operated within six (6) months of starting employment in this classification (for some positions)

Responsibilities

• Operates or uses various machinery, equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; and operates and maintains basic mechanics tool kit and/or vehicle-specific maintenance tool sets.
• Performs oil changes on automobiles and light and heavy duty trucks; removes and replaces oil and oil filters; checks/replaces fluid levels; dispenses diesel exhaust fluid for light trucks; and properly disposes of used materials.
• Performs chassis lubrication of heavy duty trucks; and lubricates upper and lower ball joints, drive shaft, rear axle, and steering column.
• Inspects fuel sites for leaks, damages, or any hazardous situations; and makes minor repairs as needed.
