Fleet Maintenance Manager
About The Position
Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking an experienced and dedicated Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of our fleet of waste collection vehicles. Coastal Waste & Recycling is a growing privately owned, locally operated solid waste disposal and recycling company headquartered out of Boca Raton, Florida serving communities across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina (and more to come)! Requirements
- Proven experience as a technician, preferably in the waste management or transportation industry
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and overall vehicle maintenance
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, emission systems, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components
- Leadership experience and the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Proficiency with fleet management software and related computer systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe, compliant, and operational
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend vehicle lifespan
- Lead and manage a team of mechanics and technicians, providing mentorship, direction, and support
- Monitor and analyze fleet performance metrics to identify and address inefficiencies
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirements
- Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to optimize fleet utilization and performance
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs
- Manage the fleet maintenance budget, including parts, labor, and equipment expenses
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers for parts and services
- Conduct ongoing safety training and ensure adherence to all safety standards and protocols
