About The Position

Oversee Maintenance of Xanterra Fleet Vehicles and Guest Services. The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round. Pay: $49,608.00 per year. Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays). Why Grand Canyon South Rim? Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience in a vehicle repair environment.
  • Parts inventory and organization background.
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly explain diagnostics and repairs to staff and guests.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to working with, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Physical Requirements include: Frequently: Stand, walk, sit. Occasionally: Handle, reach outward/above shoulder, crawl, squat/kneel, bend, lift/carry up to 20lbs, push/pull up to 12lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist all guests, internal and external, in a polite and professional manner.
  • Oversee all maintenance, inspection, and repair activities for fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Interview and select staff in alignment with company and Human Resources guidelines.
  • Manage the workflow of assignments for mechanics in the vehicle and bus garages.
  • Assign work to the garage staff that is comparable to their job description and skill level.
  • Implement preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
  • Schedule staff to cover seven-day a week operations.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for garage staff and submit to Director of Engineering for approval.
  • Coordinate fleet vehicle maintenance to allow for the least amount of down time.
  • Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, including vehicle standards, inspections, and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure that staff adheres to all risk management and environmental policies in the performance of their duties.
  • Inventory, order, and organize parts on hand to reflect good buying practices and necessary inventory.
  • Conduct inventory of parts, as requested.
  • Ensure quality workmanship by direct supervision, on the job training, and delegation of job assignments.
  • Interact with guests on their automotive problems, repairs required, time frame, and costs.
  • Make sure all work orders are filled out and completed thoroughly. Maintain accurate files for easy reference and/or audits.
  • Acquire tools and non-capitalized equipment.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work area in the public and bus garage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
