We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill a temporary Fleet Maintenance position. This role is expected to last approximately 1 year, or until the incumbent returns. An employee in this class performs basic work of a mechanic in the Village’s garage. The employee performs assigned automotive and mechanical work repairing gasoline and diesel equipment. The work requires operation of various equipment and hand tools to support the work activities. The employee is subject to hazards of mechanic work including working in both inside and outside environments, including extreme hot and cold weather and is exposed to hazards such as loud noise, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, and oils. Work is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Superintendent and is evaluated through observation while in progress and/or upon completion, work order reports, and by quality and successful equipment operation.
