About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician to help maintain the facilities, equipment, and infrastructure that support Denver's fleet operations. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, repair, inspection, and equipment operation duties across Fleet facilities. The team plays a critical role in keeping Denver’s fleet safe, reliable, and ready to serve the community, with a goal of maintaining 96% or more vehicle availability. Fleet Management oversees vehicle utilization, maintenance and repair costs, fleet replacements, new vehicle acquisitions, heavy equipment, and fuel contracts for City and County operations. This is an essential position and will participate in snow duty operations when needed. As a Facility Maintenance Technician, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of trades and maintenance functions while supporting the facilities and equipment that keep Denver’s fleet operating every day. This is a hands-on position well suited for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working with equipment, performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks, and working collaboratively with a team.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with conduction fuel site inspections and maintenance
  • Experience with maintaining car washes
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely without direct supervision in various environments
  • Experience in a Fleet maintenance environment repairing and inspecting tools and equipment related to the industry
  • Have or have the ability to obtain an A/B Operators Permit for UST Inspections
  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Three (3) years of experience performing a variety of duties in construction, mechanical, or facility maintenance.
  • A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on fleet maintenance tools, equipment, and related systems.
  • Maintains fuel islands and performs minor repairs and component replacements, including fuel pump hoses, couplers, and nozzles.
  • Maintains and performs minor repairs on automatic vehicle wash systems, pressure washers, and related equipment.
  • Coordinates and monitors work performed by outside contractors and business partners, ensuring repairs and installations are completed safely, properly, and according to specifications.
  • Performs semi-skilled trades work in a variety of areas, including welding, carpentry, masonry, mechanical maintenance, minor electrical work, and minor plumbing.
  • Inspects facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify maintenance, repair, construction, and mechanical needs.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly inspections related to underground storage tanks (UST), aboveground storage tanks (AST), and regulated waste; maintains required records and reports.
  • Collaborates with other trades and maintenance staff to repair, maintain, and service Fleet facilities and equipment.
  • Operates and maintains light- and heavy-duty equipment and vehicles in support of assigned duties, including aerial trucks.
  • Operates light-duty snow removal equipment weighing one ton or less.
  • Operates light-duty trucks, ATVs, forklifts, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Follows established safety practices and procedures and maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Provides training and guidance to lower-level technical and labor employees and new staff on equipment, maintenance procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
