About The Position

Smithfield Foods is hiring a local professional truck driver in Wichita, Kansas. Drivers operate late-model Freightliner tractors pulling 53-foot refrigerated trailers and are dispatched to company plants, company distribution centers, and customer distribution centers. The role emphasizes safe driving, customer service, and effective decision-making. Routes remain within a 300-mile radius, and drivers are home daily. Work is scheduled either Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, with morning and evening shifts available. Shifts may be up to 12 hours per day. Drivers travel approximately 1,800–2,000 miles and handle 10 or more loads weekly. Freight is no-touch, with a mixture of drop-and-hook and live loading or unloading. The position also includes additional duties under a weekly guarantee, such as trailer washouts, fueling, spotting, weighing, and reporting maintenance issues. Earning potential is up to $80,000 or more annually, plus paid time off. The listing offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus, full-serviced leased equipment, an option to enroll in a 401(k), and medical, dental, prescription, and vision benefits.
