About The Position

Denver Police Department is looking for a motivated and technically skilled professional with a strong foundation in vehicle repair and body shop operations to join their team. This individual possesses strong problem-solving abilities, a solid mechanical aptitude, and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex repair challenges efficiently. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position will be located at: 5440 Roslyn St. Building A Denver, CO 80216

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Three (3) years of body repair experience which must have included painting, fiberglass, plastics repair and welding
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
  • By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
  • Full set of tools necessary for Collision repair
  • Ability to properly use a Mig welder (certifications are a plus)
  • Aluminum body repair experience
  • Structural body repair experience strongly recommended
  • Ability to use frame measuring system and read frame measurements
  • Ability to use frame alignment machine to repair frame and structural damage

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years Auto Body experience preferred
  • I-CAR certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and annual inspections and complete preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and detailed inspection reports, including identifying accident damage and required repairs
  • Coordinate complex or unusual repair issues with vehicle manufacturers as needed
  • Adhere to and promote all shop safety standards and procedures
  • Respond to field service calls and perform maintenance and repairs both in the shop and at remote locations
  • Perform custom repairs and replacement of body components and structural elements made of metal, fiberglass, plastic, and other materials to established standards
  • Prepare, align, and refinish vehicle surfaces for painting using techniques such as sanding, filling, sealing, and priming
  • Perform mechanical repairs in conjunction with body work, including electrical systems, brakes, HVAC, hydraulics, and exhaust systems and fabricate structural and mechanical components such as mounts and brackets using materials including metal, plastic, wood, and fiberglass
  • Prepare repair cost estimates
  • Train, mentor, and review the work of lower-level technicians; assist senior technicians as needed
