About The Position

Supports the Fleet Manager in the day-to-day management of company owned and leased vehicle assets. This role moves vehicles and equipment between company locations, repair and maintenance facilities, fueling stations, and vehicle washes; keeps Motor Pool vehicles clean, fueled, and ready for service; and handles the tracking, reporting, and recordkeeping that keeps the fleet accounted for. The Fleet Assistant is the point of contact between vendors and staff on vehicle-related matters, and is trusted to operate company assets safely and represent Target Hospitality well on the road.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of 5 years of driving experience.
  • Must reside within a 30-mile radius of the Midland / Odessa area.
  • Proven knowledge of vehicle operation and basic maintenance.
  • Ability to properly operate all fleet vehicles, including one-ton trucks and box trucks.
  • Ability to properly operate a vehicle while towing a trailer, with a maximum trailer length of 24 feet.
  • Ability to properly secure cargo.
  • Ability to perform a vehicle inspection and make minor adjustments when needed, such as adding fluids, adjusting tire pressure, and changing bulbs.
  • Ability to accurately and timely prepare, review, edit, send, and store electronic and paper documents.
  • Proven knowledge of computer operations and data entry, with experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Ability and willingness to live on site and work long rotations away from home.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, driver license check, and urinalysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior fleet, motor pool, logistics, or vehicle transport experience.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Experience with fleet management or maintenance tracking software.
  • Familiarity with DOT recordkeeping and vehicle compliance requirements.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable and responsible for maintaining a safety culture, following all SOPs, JSAs, and policies and procedures as set out by Target Hospitality.
  • Transport vehicles to and from repair and maintenance facilities, company locations, fueling stations, vehicle washes, and other destinations as directed.
  • Transport equipment to and from company locations by vehicle, or by vehicle and trailer, with a maximum trailer length of 24 feet.
  • Properly secure all cargo before transport, and verify loads are stable and compliant prior to departure.
  • Operate all fleet vehicles safely and lawfully, including one-ton trucks and box trucks.
  • Ensure Motor Pool vehicles are clean, fueled, and prepared for service at all times.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and make minor adjustments as needed, including adding fluids, adjusting tire pressure, and changing bulbs.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues, damage, and safety concerns to the Fleet Manager promptly.
  • Coordinate vehicle drop-off and pick-up schedules with repair and maintenance vendors to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including typing, data entry, tracking, and preparing and updating reports.
  • Maintain fleet databases and records, and audit for completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and maintain paper files, and accurately prepare, review, edit, send, and store electronic and paper documents.
  • Support registration, insurance, inspection, and title documentation for company owned and leased vehicle assets.
  • Communicate with vendors and staff members on all matters related to company leased and owned vehicle assets.
  • Respond to vehicle requests from company locations and keep requestors informed of status and timing.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by a manager.
