Flatwork Sewing Associate
About The Position
This position operates a sewing machine, joining fabric pieces for upholstered furniture. The associate will adhere to established sewing standards and adjust machines to stitch various types of fabrics. They will read and follow instructions to sew specs and notes provided, and maintain equipment and the work area in an orderly manner. The role involves sewing flatwork for different products, including top stitch and welt, using different types of sewing machines. The associate must be able to work off a production work ticket to sew fabric to request and work as part of a team to meet or exceed production goals. Cross-training in other departments may be required, and all safety policies and procedures must be followed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous sewing experience a plus.
- Good hand-eye coordination, concentration skills, and attention to detail.
- Manual dexterity in order to assemble product or operate machine as directed.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to work in noisy environments.
- Occasional lifting/carrying objects up to 25 lbs.; rarely lifting/carrying objects 26-40lbs.
