About The Position

The Flagging Technician will participate in reviewing signatures on mail-in early ballot packets in accordance with standardized processes and procedures. The Flagging Technician must be detail-oriented and handle high volumes of time-sensitive tasks. They will assist with curing activities and with completing data entry for voter requests. This position requires strong computer skills.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of responsible clerical and/or administrative experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
  • Must be comfortable working on a computer for up to 8 hours a day
  • Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, trains, and assists up to thirty temporary workers who perform office support duties for the Early Voting Flagging Processing and Signature Verification functions, including: entering Early Voting Ballot requests, signature verification of returned voter Early Voting packets, maintenance of late or invalid returns, and notification to voters of insufficient ballot requests or affidavit returns
  • Scans modifications for name changes, address changes, and signature updates
  • Creates entries for and helps maintain the Active Early Voting List of voters, and separates incoming Early Voting mail for processing
  • Prioritizes, assigns, reviews, and evaluates work performed by assigned staff; monitors and approves hours worked and addresses temporary staff performance concerns with management as necessary; helps recruit, interview, and hire Early Voting support staff
  • Evaluates, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and processes relating to Early Voting Flagging, Signature Verification, and the Active Early Voting list in compliance with state statutes and federal election laws
  • Provides assistance to other divisions of the Early Voting Division in performing functions in regard to the conduct of elections
