About The Position

Immediate opening for Certified Flaggers for the Duchesne County Road Department. If you are interested in becoming certified, Duchesne County will assist you with course tuition and certification cost. This is a seasonal/temporary position, expected to run through October, but the duration may be subject to change.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Controls traffic by flagging to guide traffic through work areas and explains to public in a courteous and professional manner the reasons for the job being performed.
  • Performs manual labor, including heavy lifting and shoveling under the close supervision of maintenance and traffic series technician.
  • Assists work crews with vegetation, drainage, traffic, new sign and base installation, and surfacing.
  • Reads and interprets written instructions and documents and follows oral instructions.
  • Applies symbols to roadways with paint, buttons, and/or plastic.
  • Straightens, brushes, washes, and general maintenance of roadway signs.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of assigned equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
