About The Position

This role is for an Onsite/Local FL Govt .Net Architect with extensive experience in C#, MVC, JQuery, Responsive Design, SQL Server/Oracle, Azure, TDD, Agile/Waterfall, and SharePoint/TFS. The position is located in Tallahassee, FL, at the Department of State (DOS), with a duration of 12 months. The architect will be responsible for designing and developing software solutions, managing architecture, and mentoring junior developers.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of IT work experience with demonstrated knowledge in architecture design, software development, database management systems and systems integration in multi-platform environments.
  • Knowledge of and experience with State of Florida information technology standards and processes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft C#.Net, MVC, JQuery, and Responsive Design.
  • Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with Oracle.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Visual Studio 2012 and later.
  • Experience using HTML.
  • Proficient with Test Driven Development and Unit Testing methodology.
  • Experience working in a Waterfall and/or Agile development environment.
  • Strong communication and validation skills.
  • Experience with IT systems and processes, methodologies and their direct implementation to projects.
  • Experience with defining Web architectures and design for enterprise.
  • Experience working on multiple projects as a project leader or frequently as the subject matter expert.
  • Goals-oriented proactive team player with the demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to garner support from a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills that can make independent decisions within area of responsibility and expertise.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Team Foundation Server

Responsibilities

  • Follow Department IT processes and coordinate with other Department IT staff to ensure compliance with Department standards.
  • Participate in the analysis of current system(s) to gain an understanding of inputs and outputs.
  • Participates in all phases of the development and implementation process and may act as a project manager on special projects.
  • Establish and manage a formalized solution architect for software application development projects.
  • Provide appropriate documentation for object design decisions, estimating assumptions, applets, and performance metrics.
  • Analyzes assigned specifications, planning, designing, and developing solutions, utilizing appropriate Internet/Intranet/Extranet architecture processes supporting a wide range of content.
  • Direct and mentor junior developer team members.
  • Attend and participate in all project related meetings and assuring meeting notes are produced and distributed, as necessary.
  • Correspond (verbally and in writing) with project team and internal stakeholders regarding project activities, deliverables, and status.
  • Oversee code reviews.
  • Serve as senior subject matter expert.
  • Recommend best practices in solution architecture and Web/Internet development.
