About The Position

Assists the Electrical Services function by providing fixture maintenance, in addition to providing support on the various energy conservation projects throughout the University.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, from an accredited institution, required.
Two years of experience or an equivalent combination of job related coursework and experience, required.
Current valid driver's license and passing the University of Chicago, Motor Vehicle Records check process is required.
Other licenses or certificates needed for this position as required by law, changes in the law or other regulatory agency requirements, required.
Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and be physically capable of strenuous activity over extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, move loads appropriate to job requirements, and be able to bend and work in a kneeling position for long periods of time.
Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, be capable of working at heights as required, be able to enter and work within tight spaces, and be able to withstand hot and cold temperatures.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Chicago electrical code requirements, preferred.
Job-related training programs, preferred.

Responsibilities

Changes/replaces tube ends, lamps, lenses and clips.
Cleans lamps, bulbs and lenses.
Helps introduce new employees to shop protocol, procedures and campus applications and equipment.
Requisitions materials and supplies using in-house procedures as needed.
Keeps working area safe and clean.
Uses computers to enter and access job-related information.
Wears and/or uses appropriate safety equipment.
Undertakes training related to job duties as deemed necessary by the University.
Performs related job duties as may be assigned.
