About The Position

The Fixed Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing fixed plant equipment including conveyors, screens, compactors, balers, pumps, and control systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. This position supports uptime through preventive maintenance, repairs, and accurate documentation. The role has progression expectations from Entry Level (Technician I) to Mid-Level (Technician II) to Senior Level (Technician III), with increasing levels of responsibility and expertise.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 0–2 years of fixed plant maintenance experience preferred (Technician I)
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn (Technician I)
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred (Technician II)
  • 2–4 years of progressive diesel or fleet maintenance experience (Technician II)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independent equipment and systems diagnostics and repairs (Technician II)
  • Strong computer literacy and experience using maintenance management systems (Technician II)
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred (advanced technical training preferred) (Technician III)
  • 4–6+ years of advanced fixed plant maintenance technician experience (Technician III)
  • Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in equipment and systems diagnostics and repairs (Technician III)
  • Proven ability to mentor and act as technical authority (Technician III)
  • Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
  • Mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to use diagnostic software, electronic scan tools, and OEM service information that is primarily presented in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, safety procedures, diagnostic information, and work orders in English.
  • Ability to communicate work-related information verbally in English and/or Spanish.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school building maintenance program preferred (Technician I)
  • ASE certifications and CDL preferred (Technician II)

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Company safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, machine guarding and all other applicable safety standards
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment
  • Complete PMs and work orders in CMMS
  • Follow OEM manuals and SOPs
  • Communicate equipment conditions and repair needs
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and inspections (Technician I)
  • Assist with mechanical repairs (Technician I)
  • Identify plant equipment and components (Technician I)
  • Report issues to senior technicians (Technician I)
  • Perform independent diagnostics and repairs (Technician II)
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, conveyor and mechanical systems (Technician II)
  • Maintain PM compliance and documentation accuracy (Technician II)
  • Support Technician I employees (Technician II)
  • Lead advanced diagnostics and major repairs (Technician III)
  • Serve as SME across plant systems (Technician III)
  • Mentor technicians and lead training (Technician III)
  • Drive reliability and continuous improvement (Technician III)
