About The Position

This is an in-plant role requiring technical supervision of design and drafting, implementation and enforcement of company standards and policies, and management of personnel. The role involves preparing budgets, scopes, and schedules, selecting staff, directing work, attending meetings, assigning tasks, ensuring technical compliance, implementing standards, performing quality reviews, and training personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fixed equipment design, fabrication, repair, inspection, or related disciplines in Petrochemical facilities
  • Ability to work in an industrial plant environment, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces, and performing physical activities such as walking, crawling, crouching, balancing, and sitting.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and holidays, and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASME and API codes related to equipment construction, repair, rerating, and alterations.
  • Working knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and construction drawings.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university with at least nine (9) years of experience, primarily in the refinery, petrochemical, or chemical industries, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook or similar software.
  • Experienced with discipline-specific computer applications (i.e., ETAP, STAAD, CAESAR, etc.).
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements in the related discipline required.
  • Knowledge related to design in discipline field expected.
  • Knowledge of key aspects of Civil, Mechanical, I/E and Chemical Engineering

  • Seeking to mentor younger engineers.
  • Professional Engineer License desired
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with metallurgy-related experience or coursework.
  • Knowledge of API 571, API 574, API 575, and NBIC standards.
  • Experience using SAP.
  • Experience conducting Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), including methodologies such as Cause Mapping and TapRooT®.
  • Experience in FMEA and RCM
  • Familiarity with industry-standard fixed equipment design and fitness-for-service software applications.
