About The Position

The Fixed Asset Analyst will serve as the company’s subject matter expert on all things related to capital spend and fixed asset accounting. This role bridges Finance and Operations, working closely with our outside plant (OSP) and construction teams to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and forecasting of capital projects across the telecom and fiber network. The ideal candidate combines financial acumen with a deep understanding of capital project lifecycles, enabling clear insight into the company’s investments and their impact on long-term growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in fixed asset accounting, capital project accounting, or financial analysis (telecom or construction industry experience preferred).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, particularly operations, construction, or outside plant (OSP) groups.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, asset capitalization rules, and depreciation methodologies.
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and project management or OSP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.
  • Ability to build and maintain dashboards and financial reports.
  • Experience reconciling financial data between multiple systems.
  • Ability to track and analyze capital spend, including POs, invoices, variances, and forecasts.
  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities.
  • Ability to assess trends, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full lifecycle of capital projects from initiation through close-out.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain project coding, documentation, and cost alignment.
  • Experience with process improvement, system optimization, or standardization of reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and close capital projects in accordance with company policy and accounting standards.
  • Partner with operations and construction teams to ensure accurate project setup, coding, and cost alignment.
  • Manage the lifecycle of capital projects from initiation through close-out, ensuring timely capitalization.
  • Track all capital spend, including purchase orders (POs), invoices, and actual-to-forecast variances.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports summarizing project budgets, spend-to-date, committed costs, and remaining forecasted spend.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations between accounting systems and operational project data.
  • Serve as the primary finance resource for outside plant and construction teams on capital-related topics.
  • Support project managers and leadership with spend forecasts, project progress metrics, and financial insights.
  • Collaborate with accounting to ensure proper asset capitalization, depreciation, and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare and present detailed capital expenditure (CapEx) reports to finance and operations leadership.
  • Identify trends and risks in capital performance and propose corrective actions.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting processes related to fixed assets.
  • Streamline and standardize capital reporting processes and data integrity across systems.
  • Recommend system enhancements or process improvements to improve visibility and accuracy of capital tracking
