About The Position

Actively looking to hire a Fixed Asset Accountant to support a team in Tampa FL! This role offers a pension plan once permanent! The Fixed Asset Accountant maintains and oversees the fixed asset subledger and related accounting activities, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and reporting in accordance with company policies and GAAP. This role supports capital projects, construction-in-progress accounting, and asset lifecycle management while partnering closely with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Facilities. The position offers a clear path for growth and the opportunity to transition from contract to a permanent role.

Requirements

  • Experience working with Facilities and Construction teams on capital projects (preferred).
  • Familiarity with construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting and capitalization of completed projects.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits, including preparation of fixed asset schedules.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and, where applicable, SOX requirements related to fixed assets.
  • Interest in contributing to process improvements and system enhancements in the fixed asset area.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including recording asset additions, retirements, transfers, and depreciation.
  • Record and review capital expenditures to ensure proper capitalization, accurate classification, and compliance with company policy and GAAP.
  • Calculate and post monthly depreciation and amortization entries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Review and process asset retirements, impairments, and disposals in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Support construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting, including tracking project costs and capitalizing completed projects.
  • Assist with physical asset inventories, asset tagging, and ongoing asset tracking to maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and, where applicable, SOX requirements related to fixed asset accounting.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and other stakeholders on asset-related activities and projects.
  • Collaborate with Facilities and Construction teams on capital projects and asset management, as applicable.
  • Assist with process improvements and system enhancements related to fixed asset accounting to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support month-end close activities related to fixed assets and capital projects.
