About The Position

The Fitting Supervisor is responsible for running the stitching room, sequencing work across a large team and multiple machine operations to ensure all uppers are completed on time and in the correct order. This role involves managing the department's skill matrix, training new employees, and ensuring high-quality stitching and efficient workflow.

Requirements

• Minimum ten years in a footwear stitching room.
• Hands-on capable on at least four machine types.
• Able to set up and troubleshoot industrial sewing machines without calling maintenance for routine adjustments.
• Able to run a skill matrix and schedule around absences.

Responsibilities

• Sequence and balance work across skiving, marking, cementing, backstay, eyelet, box toe, closing and top-stitch stations.
• Own the department skill matrix, rating every operator on every station and closing skill gaps.
• Set and adjust thread tension, needle size, stitch length and gauge on post-bed, flatbed and Puritan machines.
• Inspect uppers for stitch quality, seam alignment, backstay placement and eyelet spacing before releasing them to Lasting.
• Manage work in process and proactively address potential bottlenecks.
• Train new fitters and certify them for unsupervised production.
