Requirements

- Is a qualified fitter as per VLS procedures or can be soon.
- Understands and complies with all safety regulations.

Responsibilities
- Perform duties in a safe manner, to include, but not limited to various barge repairs, heating and cutting determined from inspections.
- Push safety throughout the shop and ensure all employees are compliant with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
- Fit and fabricate materials for barges or special projects.
- Continuously complete tasks in the specified amount of time.
- Assist supervisor and/or leadman in training and direction of assigned subordinates.
- Remove and fit parts according to regulations and specifications.
- Instruct others in welding techniques and safety.
- Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
- Preheat workpiece with hand torch.
- Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
- Safely use torch for cutting metal.
- Understand and comply with all safety regulations.
