Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in a safe manner, to include, but not limited to various barge repairs, heating and cutting determined from inspections.
  • Push safety throughout the shop and ensure all employees are compliant with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Fit and fabricate materials for barges or special projects.
  • Continuously complete tasks in the specified amount of time.
  • Assist supervisor and/or leadman in training and direction of assigned subordinates.
  • Remove and fit parts according to regulations and specifications.
  • Instruct others in welding techniques and safety.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
  • Preheat workpiece with hand torch.
  • Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
  • Safely use torch for cutting metal.
  • Understand and comply with all safety regulations.
