About The Position

Nucor Buildings Group West is seeking a dedicated Structural Welder/Fitter to perform high-quality welds on steel structural components. This role requires a commitment to safety and quality, ensuring strong, accurate, and compliant welds. The position involves working closely with a welding partner, operating equipment like cranes and magnetic drills, and conducting visual inspections of welded parts. Effective communication with upstream and downstream teams is essential for addressing safety, quality, and efficiency concerns.

Requirements

Able to pass a GMAW Weld Test
Proficient in MIG welding techniques with a solid understanding of welding principles
Ability to conduct thorough visual inspections of welded parts for quality and compliance.
Competent in with measuring tools.
Willingness to work either 2nd or 3rd shift schedules (2nd shift typically 2 PM–10 PM; 3rd shift typically 10 PM–6 AM).

Nice To Haves

6 months experience operating grinders, cranes, transfers, and magnetic drills.
Current welding certifications
Welding degree from an accredited technical college or equivalent experience in welding
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

Complete welding on structural steel components as directed, maintaining safety and quality standards.
Work closely with a welding partner to weld and fit components, ensuring smooth coordination and the delivery of high-quality results.
Use equipment such as cranes, transfers, and magnetic drills to assist with part fabrication and welding processes.
Conduct full visual inspections of welded parts to ensure all welds are applied correctly and meet quality standards.
Collaborate with upstream and downstream teams to address safety, quality, and efficiency concerns, ensuring a smooth workflow and successful project completion.
