This position works collaboratively with staff at both Hidden Creek Community Center and Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC) to provide exceptional service and meaningful fitness experiences. This position is primarily based at Hidden Creek Community Center, with possible scheduled shifts at Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC) as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Some related recreation, fitness instruction, personal training, or customer service experience.
  • Experience leading group fitness classes and/or providing personal training.
  • Experience providing leadership, mentoring, or lead worker responsibilities is highly desirable.
  • OR Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to be successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Personal Trainer (preferred).
  • Group Exercise Instructor certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for the personal training program by reviewing client intake forms and connecting participants with appropriate trainers.
  • Act as the liaison between the personal training team and the Fitness & Wellness Supervisor.
  • Mentor, coach, and support personal trainers to promote consistent, high-quality programming and customer service.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group personal training sessions tailored to participants' individual goals and abilities.
  • Design and instruct group fitness classes and provide substitute instruction as needed.
  • Monitor the fitness floor, encourage safe equipment use, and enforce facility policies.
  • Support fitness events, workshops, challenges, races, and other community wellness initiatives, including coordinating event logistics, recruiting vendors, assisting with volunteer coordination, and helping facilitate events from planning through execution.
  • Welcome and assist patrons by answering questions and providing accurate program and facility information.
  • Promote fitness programs and community events through participant engagement and outreach.
  • Maintain participation records, cleaning logs, and maintenance requests.
  • Provide lead worker support by sharing knowledge, assisting with training, and helping ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Help coordinate and support community 5K races, including vendor coordination, volunteer support, event logistics, and participant engagement.
  • Assist with National Dance Day programming by helping facilitate activities and promote participation.
  • Research, design, and implement Community Wellness Challenges.
  • Assist in development of clinics and workshops for the Winter/Spring Activity Guide.
