About The Position

The Town of Orangeville’s Community Services Department is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Fitness instructor. This is a part-time position, commencing in September 2026. The hours of work are a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours per week.

Requirements

  • Completed some secondary school.
  • Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED from an accredited organization.
  • Certified Fitness Instructor from an accredited organization such as Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance, Can Fit Pro, YMCA, Ontario Fitness Council.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Fitness Instructor.
  • Ability to design and choreograph fitness routines.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with participants and team members.
  • Follows instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Provides excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and leading a variety of dry-land and aqua group fitness classes geared to various participant skill levels; ensuring proper technique and safety including choreography, music, and use of equipment; providing modifications to accommodate different abilities and fitness goals; motivating and engaging participants to create a positive and inclusive workout environment.
  • Maintaining clean and organized program spaces, including storage areas; completing safe set-ups, take-downs and proper use of fitness equipment; being fully aware while on duty and ready to respond to emergencies.
  • Monitoring class participation and completing attendance each class; addressing safety concerns and reporting all accidents and incidents to immediate Supervisor.
  • Participating in ongoing training and professional development to maintain required certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
