About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the day-to-day operation of the Pinehurst Country Club Fitness Centers, including retail, the fitness center, employee recruitment, scheduling, revenue generation, budgeting, policies and procedures. The role involves directing the fitness coordinator and staff, overseeing member usage, equipment maintenance, and creating fitness programs. The position also requires attending board meetings, providing member orientations and fitness consults, teaching classes, and managing retail inventories, scheduling, and payroll. The Fitness Director is responsible for providing direction, leadership, scheduling, and coaching to the front desk staff, including interviewing, training, and performance management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree, and or a minimum of 3 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have all appropriate training/fitness certifications.
  • Must have all Nationally recognized certifications in GRPX & PTRRG.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Pinehurst Country Club Fitness Centers, including retail, the fitness center, employee recruitment, scheduling, revenue generation, budgeting, policies and procedures.
  • Direct the fitness coordinator and fitness staff at all fitness duties, including retail/clerk operations, POS systems, and phone etiquette.
  • Provide clear expectations for trainers & fitness class instructors.
  • Document member’s usage, ensuring rules and regulations, and equipment maintenance / repairs.
  • Create monthly newsletter, quarterly fitness challenges & seminars.
  • Stay current in new industry fitness trends & programming implementation.
  • Attend monthly board committee meetings (Pool & Fitness).
  • Provide new member machine orientations as requested.
  • Provide complimentary fitness consults as requested.
  • Teach a variety of land & aqua class formats.
  • Oversee monthly retail fitness inventories.
  • Manage all scheduling and payroll processes.
  • Provide direction, leadership, scheduling and coaching to the front desk staff including interviewing, training (customer service), and accountabilities and rewarding of employees, addressing complaints and resolving issues.
