About The Position

The Fitness Manager works within the Lifestyle Team and will work under the direction of the Lifestyle Director, who works under the direction of the General Manager. As the Fitness Manager you will play a key role in ensuring the daily operations of the Wellness Program run smoothly, ensuring a welcoming environment, and driving the success of the operation. The Wellness Program includes group fitness, personal training, massage, face spa, and nutrition. This is a hands-on position where you’ll connect with community members, and lead growth efforts for the entire Wellness Program. The Fitness Manager provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • 5+ years working in a fitness manager role or similar position
  • Prior experience managing and leading a team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Communicate, receive, and exchange ideas and information by means of spoken and written.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to help create effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.

  • May be required to travel for training sessions off-site

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and execute fitness events and classes throughout the year (sports courts, water activities, aerobics, and fitness)
  • Increase member participation in personal training, group fitness and spa
  • Conduct surveys of participants regarding operations
  • Connect with non participating community members and schedule tours of the facility and program
  • Establish and track outreach efforts
  • Prepare regular reports to include participation changes, program growth, instructor evaluation and feedback
  • Attend Board of DIrectors meetings, present well prepared management reports to include event updates and financial profit and losses
  • Focus on member retention - identify potential risks and work with site leaders to improve or alleviate
  • May be asked to participate in new member orientation
  • Lead fitness events include class previews, seminars, and workshops
  • Support the research, evaluation, and management of RFPs for equipment and gym facility needs
  • Create electronic and paper communications for distribution, including fitness events, posters, and flyers advertising events and classes
  • Compose articles for various community publications, including E-blasts, websites, and newsletters
  • Assist members with delinquent accounts, following up as needed to resolve payment issues.
  • Oversee daily and deep cleaning tasks, such as sanitizing equipment, dusting all surfaces, caring for floors, maintaining restrooms, and managing trash.
  • Report maintenance issues to the appropriate team for quick resolution.
  • Review weekly sales reports
  • Oversee refunds and issues resolution
  • Plan for coverage when 1099 contractors are unavailable for scheduled classess and training
  • Fill in for instructors when needed
  • Regularly meet with the GM to view performance reports to identify trends and areas for improvement for the program
  • Ensure all parties are adhering to safety protocols during fitness classes and events
  • Inspect and report on the the fitness facility periodically
  • Maintain facility equipment map tracking age, useful life, usage, and etc of all equipment
  • Maintain inventory of equipment including weights, mats, and etc.
  • Manage all fitness 1099 vendors - personal trainers, group fitness instructors, massage therapists, nutrition consultant, and estheticians
  • Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing duties, including the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPEs).
  • Ensure accurate attendace tracking and vendor payment requests are receiving timely and submitted for payment
  • Schedule annual special projects and events with the Property Manager
  • Support the event sponsorship program as it relates to the Fitness facility
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Directly manage full team of vendors who provide personal training, group fitness, massage, and spa services
  • Carry out vendor management responsibilities in accordance with Castle’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring 1099 contractors, evaluating performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
