About The Position

HealthFitness is hiring a part-time Fitness Coach & Injury Prevention Professional (26 hours/week) at a corporate client site in Kingsport, TN. This unique, blended role offers the opportunity to split your time between coaching and engaging members in a fitness center setting, supporting injury prevention and ergonomic initiatives on the production floor, and providing front desk support and assisting with day-to-day fitness center operations. This role offers variety and the chance to grow experience across both fitness and industrial environments. The schedule is 26 hours per week: Monday 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday-Friday 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Kinesiology, or related discipline required.
  • OSHA compliant Adult CPR/AED certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association, National Safety Council or American Safety and Health Institute required.
  • Personal Training certification from an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved provider (if not current, will be required within 90 days of start date).
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
  • Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, implement, and deliver health and fitness programs and services, promotions, and outreach activities.
  • Supports programs focused on the prevention of work injuries, physical conditioning, and employee education and wellness.
  • Responsible for providing outstanding service to members & program participants to maximize participation, outcomes, and customer satisfaction.
  • Supervises facility; interacts with participants and monitors equipment and participant safety.
  • Educates participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
  • Researches health & fitness educational topics and identifies appropriate participant educational materials.
  • Coordinates and leads a variety of HealthFitness and program-specific health improvement programs & promotions.
  • Creates and maintains bulletin boards, newsletters, and other marketing & communication materials.
  • Conducts fitness testing and assessments and advises participants of results; designs individualized programs to meet the participant’s interests, abilities, and goals.
  • Promotes program offers and conducts outreach activities to increase participation and re-engage inactive participants.
  • Participates in membership drives to acquire new participants; enrolls new participants and conducts facility, program, and equipment orientations.
  • Conducts employee injury prevention programs, education, and training.
  • Delivers work conditioning, early intervention services, and ergonomic education with the overall focus being prevention of work-related injuries.
  • Leads work conditioning classes, delivers proactive, lineside job coaching, leading, or facilitating pre-shift or during shift stretching programs, and leading educational sessions for employees.
  • Collects and documents appropriate program data to support the ROI process.
  • Collaborates with the Client’s existing resources and programming, including Heath Services, Safety, Ergonomics, and well-being teams.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned.
