About The Position

The Fitness Center Assistant helps ensure the Fitness Center operates smoothly, efficiently, and effectively serving ICC students, staff and the community. Assists with monitoring the overall health, safety, and security of the CougarPlex, its patrons, and equipment. This position reports directly to the Fitness Center Manager and may include night and weekend hours. Compensation for the PT Fitness Center Assistant is $16.24-$18.67 an hour.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working in customer service and/or working as a cashier.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in customer service serving a high volume of customers.
  • Experience working in a Fitness Center or Gym environment.
  • Knowledge of Fitness Center or Gym etiquette.
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

  • Present a positive image of the Fitness Center through an upbeat attitude, eagerness to assist all who visit, and greet and serve all with a smile.
  • Communicate membership opportunities and PHYED course offerings.
  • Process Memberships, Juice Bar and Merchandise sales.
  • Operate and balance cash register.
  • Issue membership identification cards.
  • Responsible for being alert at all times to prevent situations that may result in accidents or injury.
  • Educate patrons on the proper use of equipment.
  • Assist members and students with tracking workout visits.
  • Disinfect equipment, organize free weights, plates and marketing materials, and keep facility neat and orderly.
  • Take reservations for group fitness class and check out equipment for open gym times.
  • Enforce policies and procedures as set forth by Fitness Center management.
  • Learn, review and follow emergency procedures to assist in an emergency.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of student workers.
  • Perform general office related duties.
  • Perform related duties as required.
