This role involves teaching residents and employees land and aquatic classes, substituting for contractor instructors, providing personal training, conducting Senior Fitness Assessments, leading equipment room orientations, and meeting resident needs and requests. The position also requires maintaining equipment organization and cleanliness, managing sign-in sheets, submitting work orders, tracking monthly class and equipment usage, inputting assessment data into Excel, and maintaining bulletin boards and signage. The Fitness Assistant will also participate in additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, aligned with qualifications and requiring minimal orientation.

Requirements

  • Degree in related field or Nationally recognized Health & Fitness Certifications
  • Previous work with older populations
  • Word, Publisher, Excel, data entry, newsletter and flyer creation
  • Land and water-based group certifications
  • First Aid and CPR for the Professional
  • Certified Personal Trainer Certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and residents.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Follows all infection control practices, including hand washing techniques, standard precautions, isolation precautions, and safety precautions.
  • Ability to take care of the residents' and employees' needs while following company procedures.
  • Ability to exhibit a cheerful demeanor toward others.
  • Ability to work at a sustained pace and produce quality work.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Ability to develop a particular skill in others to bring them up to a predetermined standard of work performance.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changes in workloads, assignments, and hours.

Responsibilities

  • Teach residents and employees land and aquatic classes
  • Substitute for contractor instructors when needed
  • Personal training for resident or employee and resident personal training in home service
  • Senior Fitness Assessments
  • Equipment room(s) orientations
  • Meeting the needs/request of residents
  • Equipment organization and cleanliness
  • Sign-in sheets
  • Submitting work orders
  • Monthly class, equipment, usage totals
  • Input assessments into Excel
  • Maintain Bulletin boards and signage as needed
  • Participate in additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, aligned with qualifications and can be reasonably expected to be completed with minimal orientation.
